GEWOG PROFILE.
Hungrel Gewog has a total area of 3.6 Sq.Km of which 1425 acres are covered by forest and it lies in the East of the Dzongkhag. The gewog shares its boundary with Doteng gewog in the North and Wangchang Gewog in the South, in the West it shares with Doteng and Wangchang gewogs. It also shares Dzongkhag boundary with Thimphu Dzongkhag in the East.
The Gewog consists of 5 Chewogs namely Gaupay, Lunhchuna, Hungrel, Jangsabu and Changsema. The Gewog has a total 247 households.
About 78% of the households have piped drinking water facility and over 100 households have electricity connections.

Hungrel gewog is the smallest gewog in Paro Dzongkhag. Dry land cultivation is the main agricultural landuse followed by wetland cultivation. The main crops grown are paddy and wheat. Potatoes and apples are the main cash crops grown. Local cattles dominate livestock population and production of dairy product is mostly at the subsistence level.
