Lamgong

GEWOG PROFILE.

Lamgong Gewog has a total area of 48.8 Sq.Km of which 9985 acres are covered by forest and it has elevation ranging from 2,365 to 4530 meters above the sea level. The gewog lies in West of the Dzongkgag. The gewog shares its boundary with Dopashri and Wangchang gewogs in the East, in the North it shares with Tsento gewog, in the South with Lungnyi gewog. The gewog also shares the Dzongkhag boundary with Haa Dzongkhag in the West.

The Gewog consists of 10 Chewogs, namely Chukhatoe, Chukhamey, Tshemdonatoe, Tshemdoname, Ngoba, Jakarthangtoe, Jakarthangme, Kichu, Shomo and Nubri. The Gewog has a total of 348 households and 56 households without gung are distributed among the 8 villages.

About 98% of the households have piped drinking water facility and over 100% households have electricity connections. The gewog has 6 km farm road which provide access to the gewog.
A Livestock Extension Center (LEC), Agriculture Extension Center (AE0), provides extension services in the gewog. Health and medical facilities are provided by the Outreach clinic (ORC) at Tshento Gewog.

Lamgong gewog has a plain area with agricultural land use dominated by wetland followed by dry land cultivation. In the wetland they mostly grow paddy and wheat. Dry lands are mainly for apple orchards. In livestock Yak and local cattle’s dominate the livestock population.
