Shaba

GEWOG PROFILE:

Shaba Gewog has a total area of 76.4 Sq.Km of which 1329705 acres are covered by forest and it has elevations ranging from 2,200 to 2,850 meters above the sea level. The gewog lies in the center of the Dzongkgag. The gewog shares its boundary with Lamgong gewog in the North, in the West it shares with Lungnyi gewog, in the South with Dogar gewog. The gewog also shares the Dzongkhag boundary with Thimphu Dzongkhag in the East.

The Gewog consists of 6 Chewogs namely Dujidinkha, Zheyngo, Lholing, Zhingkhana, Neyphu, Bara, Gangri, and Tili. The Gewog has a total of 253 households.

About 98% of the households have piped drinking water facility and over 100% households have electricity connections. The gewog has 6 km of farm road providing access to the gewog.
A Livestock Extension Center (LEC), Agriculture Extension Center (AE0), provides extension services in the gewog. Health and medical facilities are provided by the Outreach clinic (ORC) at Tshento Gewog.

In the gewog the agricultural land use is dominated by wetland followed by dry land cultivation. In the wetlands they mostly grow paddy and wheat and in the dry lands mainly apples.
