GEWOG PROFILE:
Wangchang Gewog has a total area of 34.2 Sq.Km of which 6377.50 acres are covered by forest and it has an elevation ranging from 2,200 to 2,340 meters above the sea level. The gewog lies in the center of the Dzongkgag. The gewog shares its boundary with Dopashri and Hungrel gewogs in the Northeast and East, in the North it shares with lamgong gewog, in the South with Lungnyi and Shaba gewogs and in the West with Lamgong and Lungnyi gewogs.
The Gewog consists of 7 Chewogs namely Geptay, Zachakha, Changkha, Mendi, Dungkhar, Khnagku, and Nangkha. The Gewog has a total of 278 households
About 98% of the households have piped drinking water facility and over 100% households have electricity connections. The gewog has 6 km of farm road providing access to the gewog. A Livestock Extension Center (LEC), Agriculture Extension Center (AE0), provides extension services in the gewog. Health and medical facilities are provided by the Outreach clinic (ORC) at Tshento Gewog.

Wangchang gewog has a plain area with agricultural land use dominated by wetland followed by dry land cultivation. In the wetland they mostly grow paddy and wheat, in the dry lands are mainly apple orchards. In livestock Yak and local cattle’s dominate the livestock population.
