Tsento Gewog Profile

I.          Back ground

The Gewog office is 14 kms far from the Dzongkhag. It lies in the northern part of the dzongkhag with elevations ranging from 2000 to 5210 meters above the sea level.  It has an area of 575.1 sq km of which 209.05sq.km is covered by forest.

It has 5 chiwogs and 21 villages with 487households. The Gewog experiences cool to extreme cold climate with annual temperature of 4-17 degree Celsius. It receives an annual rainfall of 280mm.

At present, Gewog has constructed 31 farm roads measuring 82 km to ensure easy access to all the community Apple and potato are the main cash crops while farmers also grow other crops and vegetables to sustain their livelihoods. There are 18 Lhakhangs out of which only 1 is government owned.
